Jacob Kehm

Hey ladies,
First and foremost I send my best to you all. I also want to thank you for taking the time to read my profile.
My name is Jacob Kehm. My date of birth is 8/23/76. I was born and raised in Redding, California. When I was out, I lived my life to the fullest, very fast and hard. Now that I find myself here, I’m in the process of trying to better myself, by doing college courses to get an Associates or Bachelors degree before I parole. I’m going to study Human Ecology and Biology, the essentials for healthy living and possibly a course in the history of western civilization.
I am doing 12 years for burglary. I’ve done almost 4 years already. My release date is August 2016. My ex wife told me she had been raped. I beat the guy up and now here I sit. I found out later that she had lied, She was never raped. She was having an affair and said that so I wouldn’t leave her. I guess I shouldn’t have believed in her so freely. There is more to the story and I have no problems answering any questions you may have.
I am really into music, and listen to just about anything, but I really like heavy metal, punk rock and country. I really like to read also, mostly fantasy, vampire and historical fiction books, anything on Northern European History and reading about my Irish/German heritage.
I’m looking to write to a good woman, someone real who’s not into games. I’d love to meet a positive person that’s interested in making a long lasting quality friendship, that will last beyond these walls. I’m certainly not looking for love, but am open to it if someone real comes along. Age and weight are not important. Big beautiful women are more than welcome.

So if you see something you like then please feel free to write. All mail and pictures would be very much appreciated.
Thanks for your time, and take care.

I’m writing in hopes of making contact and opening my doors and arms to a new friendship. I have never written to a pen pal before, so it’s a new experience for me. I will be as honest as I possibly can so that you can understand me and hope that you will do the same.
I’m a Korean national, 22 years old, and come to the States when I was ten. I enjoy any type of music that sounds good t my ears: a little R&B and Hip Hop doesn’t hurt. I have a very laid back personality, very open to new ideas, and not afraid t esplore. My hopes nd dreams s\are to one day break away from this state of restraint and get a second chance on life. I have that in common with a few inmates throughout the States (smile). I’m serving a 30-year sentence now. Hopefully, I won’t go insane by then! My hobbies are limited: I like to read and study everything I can get my hands on. I keep up a good exercise routine. I also draw, but have just started recently and am making progress. Besides these little things to keep myself occupied, I just try to keep my composure and move day to day with my head held high. If there’s anything more you wish to know about me, please ask away and speak your min. I have nothing t0o hide and it will be my pleasure to share my thoughts with you.

Black Panther encaged
Cast into the temple dungeons of Hades -
I seek not further judgement, nor punishment
My soul hungers for a small morsel of bread,
For spiritual strength
A few drops of red red wine,
For mortal solace and peace of mind
And the opportunity to be blessed with the
Warmth and nourishment that can only be found
Within the bosom of a world which is yours.

Charles Kingsley

I am 26 years old and on an extended vacation here at the enchanting Pelican Bay Inn. I'm currently doing time for a robbery and drug related crime, I've earned myself a 12-year sentence. I'm no angel, but at the same time, I've done a lot of growing up in prison. Everyone makes mistakes and some people learn the hard way. I'm trying to take responsibility for my actions. I was born on August 4, 1978 and I'm French Canadian and Native American. I've spent most of my life in Northern California – mostly the Bay area and Redding – but I have lived all over California. I consider myself a born-again Christian. I enjoy positive and fruitful conversations. I spend a lot of my time reading and studying. I participate in a few self-help correspondence courses. I also love to draw. I'm one of the few that have a decent education and before I was locked up, I managed a pet store. My dad is a veterinarian and my mom owns a dog grooming shop. Bottom line is, I'm looking for new friends to write to. I hope to hear from someone soon – male or female.

Who knows, maybe if you take a chance on writing to me, or someone else in prison, you might be surprised that we all have a lot in common.

I’m serving a 17 year prison sentence. I’ve been incarcerated since 1994, I’m down to my last 23 months.
I’m basically looking for a woman who is open minded, honest and understanding. Race is unimportant. My age is 31. I’m looking for someone who is willing to take a chance and get to know me, and I’m willing to take a chance and open up to someone too. I’m very outgoing, honest and respectful.
I enjoy reading, writing and watching T.V, but open to new experiences.

I've been in the SHU for a bit over 12 years, and the only ones I keep in touch with are family. I'm a 33-year-old lifer standing 5' 9" with black hair and brown eyes. I'm an artist and lover of books. I like to read Robert Ludlum novels but my favorite book is “Rain of Gold” by Victor Villasenor. I also enjoy baseball, football and boxing. I like all sorts of music, and I love the song “Cross My Heart” by Billy Stewart. I'm a down-to-earth guy with goals, such as earning a college degree and helping youngsters learn that there is more to life than the hanging out on the streets and d oing drugs. I want to be a better man than I was yesterday! I value a true friendship as much as life itself! I'm good-hearted, sincere and know how to be myself - no pretending. I'm looking for a down-to-earth woman for a sincere and honest friendship. Hope to hear from you.

My best greetings to all those taking the time to read this. I hope this finds you all in the best of spirits. Well, let me get to the point of introducing myself.
My name is Eddie and I’m 24 years of age. I am from Southern California. But am currently in Pelican Bay serving a 19 year sentence, having done 8 years already., with all this time I have completed, I keep myself occupied by studying, (Spanish and trying to get my GED). I also enjoy reading pretty much about anything, and on occasion I watch TV.
Well, i’m just looking for someone to share some conversation with. I’m not looking for drama. If you have any questions, fell free to ask. I am an open book.
I appreciate the time you have taken to read this, and I hope to hear back from someone.

With respect,

Frank Lara

Dear future friend,

I sincerely wish you thanks for reading this letter. I hope I have found you feeling your absolute best.
To begin this small insight into who I m , my name is Frank. I am 34 years old, six feet tall. I’m quite energetic and keep myself in splendid shape. I enjoy a lot of things in life, but try not to let things that are out of my control be a burden to me. Why stress over issues that are out of our grasp, yes?
I attempted to visualize how I could pose myself that would seem different, more unique, for indeed introduction letters are quite bland and colorless, for letters in my view are something to be written with intimacy and feeling. But all I will do is be myself and hope my words are pleasing and interesting for you, and maybe bring you to smile. I only possess a select group of friends, for friendship to me is quite potent, and I adhere to friends selfishly. It would be such a pleasure to form a friendship with you… I’m very modest and uncomfortable describing my person to you, but to make a friend, one must seek a friend, yes?
The characteristics I possess are significant for living life with honor, dignity and reverence. For those are my character and heart, and the standard by which I live by daily.
In any event, I truly desire to make a new friend and I realize I wasn’t exactly eloquent in the proceeding words but I do wish to hear from you.
Words can be eternal and so can friendship. Please, whatever you do, take a smile through life and enjoy it’s warmth.
I hope for a reply.

Khalif Lateef

I am a 58-year-old African-American man who has been incarcerated for the past 27 years. In addition to having deep political convictions and a profound spiritual nature, I have also been active in the prison reform struggle the entire time I’ve been here. I am both college and street educated, and I expect to be released in august 2012. During the many years of my imprisonment I have lost my family and friends to death and/or to simply growing older and falling by the wayside as the years passed. Consequently I am now without meaningful outside contacts and am reaching out from behind these walls of brick and steel in an effort to meet new friends and hopefully establish some avenues of communication. If you too, seek a true, loyal, committed friend, then this is the ad to answer! Write me! Let’s kick it and get to know each other.

Darnell Edwards Lemons

Please let me introduce myself. My name is Darnell, I’m 41 years old, 214 lbs, 6” in height with an athletic build. Beyond these attributes I am interesting and well educated. There is a possibility of my release in the not too distant future.
For the person I’m interested in meeting: someone who is intelligent, intriguing and funny. A person who is compassionate about life, with sincerity as their motivation for correspondence. I’m an individual who believes secrets destroy relationships. I consider those worthy of my friendship, deserving of all I have. So many things in this life are decided in a moment so I live my life for that moment. Some believe beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. To me, beauty “just is”. The most joyous thing in life is the birth of a child.
My interests as well as hobbies encompass everything from athletics to computer programming. I enjoy reading, drawing and compassionate poetry. I love the sound of the ocean on the eve of a storm. I like individuals who are not afraid to be themselves, people who do not conform to the stereotypes created by those who are judgmental. I am wildly spirited with a playful personality. I enjoy engaging in meaningful conversations about any topic. I have particular fascination with this universe and my place within it. Stay compassionate as you are and don’t be afraid to be “you”.

Henry Leon

My name is Henry, a 31 year old Hispanic. I was born and raised in Lindsay California, a small agricultural town on March 13 1975. I have never been married but I have one daughter who is 7 years old. I try to be a part of her life as much as possible. I have just over a year left on my prison sentence, which I look forward to moving forward with ly life, a new life in Jesus Christ.
I have had to rediscover myself as a new man no longer filled with hate and anger but peace and love. I spend my time reading and studying and trying to be a good example and influence on those around me. I enjoy writing and singing worship hymns, not that I’m a good singer but it brings me joy.
What am I looking to get out of this: fellowship, someone I can speak to on a Christian level and share my experiences with.

Hey there stranger, how are you doing? Hopefully this letter reaches you and finds you and your loved ones in the best of health.
As for myself, “I’m doing firme.” Well your probably wondering who I am so let me take this time to introduce myself.
My name is Miguel, but I’m also known as “laughs”. I’m 33 years old, tattooed up, Chicano from casa blanca in Riverside CA. I’m 5’9”, brown eyes and I weight a solid 210 lbs. Just so you know, I’m dedicated to working out! I also got a “firme moreno” complexion to match my brown pride!
Just so you know, so you don’t think anything else, I’m busted for possession of dope and a strap. “I’m just keeping it real with you!” Know what I mean?
Anyways, I’m looking for a pen pal that’s not afraid of a little bit of fun and excitement in their lives. Because that’s what I’m all about. So if your interested and willing to give this friendship a shot, write me back and tell me a little bit about yourself O.K.
Well I better pump my brakes and park this pen for now. Hope to hear back from you soon. Till then, take care…

Luis H. Leija

I am a 31-year old Mexican currently enrolled at the University of Pelican Bay. My passions are in the Arts and I enjoy drawing. I find it occupies my mind and is therapeutic (not that I need therapy).

I speak English as well as Spanish, and am currently learning the Italian language (Sto imparando l'Italiano). I'm giving it about 5 years then depending on how much I've picked up, I'd like to move on to maybe French. I love the sound of a foreign language.

I also dabble a little in law practice. I find that the law is very complicated and it stimulates the brain. It's almost like trying decipher Egyptian or Mayan hieroglyphics, well not quite, but you get the picture.

As for home, well I'm pretty far away from there, which is in Cathedral City in the Palm Springs area. I've been away since 1995, so I guess it's not home anymore. I've learned that in my situation home is where you are at.

David Leyva

I'm Mexican-American, born and raised out of East Los Angeles. I'm a novice writer and would like to be in touch with others in the world. Or really, anyone in the creative world. I'm currently doing as much
research as I can, and also studying whatever I can possibly get my hands on to further my educational interest in writing and/or publishing.

I have an interest in creating a magazine, a local magazine that reflects the interest of a particular place. I'm currently taking a few courses from the distance-learning department of a community college in Southern California to help further my education in my interest.

I’m a lifer on a permanent SHU term.
I was born and raised in the suburbs of Lindsay California, a small place called Tonyville. I speak English and Spanish fluently, as well as the ancient language. I am a courteous, open minded and sociable person. I’m looking for a female companion, a friend I could speak with open mindedly to share thoughts, ideas or anything in general. I’m a good listener and love to learn basically anything. I’m willing to share as far as your heart desires. I’m easy going and as gentle as a teddy bear!

How much insight and depth is required to ascertain that even the most treasured diamond was once nothing more than a lump of coal? Not much - it's just a fact! So what's that got to do with me? I'm not really sure since I'm not quite a lump of coal, and I'm not quite a precious stone. I'm working on it though!

You probably don't want to hear about my accomplishments huh? Well my accomplishments may not be in the running for any Nobel Prize, but to my daughter I'm the undisputed Daddy Laureate! (She's probably biased in my favor.) Anyway & via pen, paper, and time, I intend to extend sincere friendship to anyone willing to break these spiritual walls of uncertainty to discover that support, grace, and compassion can indeed abide in all and are needed by all. Fostering is the key & I ask nothing that I wouldn't be willing to reciprocate. Let's talk. You'll probably like me & a lot!!!

Luis Lopez

As I sit here writing from the SHU peering down on to this paper, I can’t help but think how this ink stick creates a keyhole for others to peer through. Even if it doesn’t open up the whole of my world and the fullness of my life. It illuminates a private and narrow cone, visible only to the persons reading the ink I have spilled. Even then, you are only treated to a quick speck at a time.
My goal is to do the aforementioned, even so, that you’ll want to create your own keyhole for my eyes. I’ll write a few thoughts that will help you to understand me a bit.
When I was about 13 I wanted to be a writer. But everything I wrote, I thought was too weak. I figured I had no talent, not the way I wanted to have, so I didn’t put much into it. Little did I realize then that my only form of communication with the world would be through writing. I am now 31 and smile at the thought.
After 10 years of being in prison, and half of that spent in the SHU. I have not yet become a depressant. I don’t leave anyone nodding off over a conversation (as can happen all too easily with most individuals who allow the “time” to dull them). Instead you’ll find my moods to be elevated with good thoughts, because staying positive makes my world a better place. I’m like a good Tequila drink! I guess you could say that I have more of a vivid imagination than anything else, that helps in here. It’s a characteristic of mine to describe myself to you. A story springs to mind.
When I was younger I did something terrible to my father. I had a job at a printing shop, and one day I found a letter head from I.N.S. I wrote: Dear Mr. Lopez, We are happy to inform you that we have selected you to become a U.S citizen. Please call to make an appointment. Sincerely, so and so. I delivered it. My father was so happy when he read it. After, he tried the number a few times and I had to tell him that it was fake. He was Mexican mad! In those days kids got whoopings, good ones too with a belt. I know why I did it, I wanted him to get his citizenship. We do bad things for good reasons. I still laugh at that now, now he’s a proud citizen.
If you are wondering if I’m a good or a bad person, let me just say this. To be good is to be abundant – that is my tendency. Some one who aspires to do or have less is the definition of bad. I’m not bad. I give myself freely to all things.
I’m a reader and a thinker. I subscribe to Psychology Today, National Geographic, GQ, Esquire and of course the T.V guide. This should help you with figuring out what I’m into, besides women. I’m not afraid of my own thoughts, so I’m not lonely in here, but some mail wouldn’t hurt.
To cut this intro short and not take up too much of your time, I will end it with a joke:
A guy is sitting on his sofa when he hears a knock at the door. He opens the door an see’s a snail on the porch. He picks up the snail and throws it as far as he can. A few days later there’s a knock at the door. He open the door and see’s the same snail. The snail says “what was all that about?”
Hope you enjoyed my letter. Have a nice day and remember that the truest religion is kindness.

I have a release date of 9/20/10… I’m hopping that’s not a problem? If there’s any questions you would like to ask me feel free to ask them. I keep it real at all times okay…

What’s up everybody? My name’s Louis and I’m in Pelican Bay State Prison, please don’t hold that against me, thank you!
I’m just writing to see if anyone out there would be interested in having a pen pal. It would be pretty cool if I could get a letter or two from somebody out there. I’m not asking for anything, just a good line of communications, that’s all. Someone who’ll give me an anchor by which to keep in contact with the outside world.
So, I’ll tell you a little bit about myself. I’m currently writing a book, hence the typed letter. Her Majesty, my mother, purchased a typewriter for me to do so with it. So I can afford things in this prison and so I can afford to get me back out some day. I’d tell you all about it but it’s not finished yet, or trademarked. Sorry!
Like I was saying though, I’m 39 years of age, 5”10, have brown eyes and black hair. I like nothing but the best of things, ie: I’m picky, but not annoyingly so. Bad news though, I’ve got more time to serve than Mc Donalds has burgers to serve, not that I’ll have to serve it all, after all, money talks and I’ll eventually walk.
Anyway, if you write back to me, I’ll write back to you and I’ll even tell you about the Almighty Pelican Bay State Prison. It’s not all that, it’s living on a reputation, no more.
Okay now, let me change the subject.
So, who did you kill last summer? No, no, no. Just kidding. Bad joke! Not that I’m here for such a crime. No, what got me here was the California Three Strikes Law.
But back to the question. Who are you and what do you like? Do you go to school, college or what? Do you work and if you do, what is it that you do? Do you like your job? Is it fun? Ever take money out of the register? Kidding, kidding. Just another sick joke!

Alright then, I’ll have to say bye for now.

Take care.

Imprisoned for life at age 16, now I'm 28 and I'm reaching out to society for pen pals, friends and yes, even to explore the possibilities of love. I'm open minded. Look where I reside, so who am I to judge? I do take this existence seriously, but I do have a good sense of humor. I enjoy writing, reading world events, history, art, sports, and I even do a little drawing from time to time. I'm a straight white man, 5' 11", 165 lbs., with brown eyes and bald by choice, who is looking for a woman who loves to laugh and is a free spirit, someone who is not easily offended nor scared to explore the unknown. All are welcome to write,

Geronimo Lozano

Hi, I am writing this letter to introduce myself and to tell you a little bit about myself.
My name is Geronimo Che Lozano and I am currently serving time at the Security housing Unit at Pelican Bay. I am 35 years old, but I don’t look a day older than 25… provided you stand really far away when you do the lookin!! I was born on May 8, 1973. I am Mexican/American and speak both English and Spanish.
I was born in a very small city in Los Angeles County. There, my mom brought me up by herself in a good home where I was the oldest of three children. Although I knew who my dad was, I can’t say that I remember having any real relationship with him. He was in and out of jail for most of my childhood. When I was twelve years old he died of an overdose. I was never the same after that.
In my early teens I started acting up. I started hanging out with the wrong crowd, going to the wrong places and doing the wrong things. As time went by and I became more aware of the pain I was causing my mom, I started to realize what a rotten son I was being. And for a time, I tried to stay clear of things that would get me in trouble.
About the time I turn fourteen, I started getting into trouble again. By this time I had been exposed to drugs and gangs. Initially I wanted nothing to do with either of them but my life wasn’t above reproach by any means.
By the time I was fifteen I was getting high on marijuana regularly. Around the same time I started running the streets with a gang, and that became a fast trip down hill. My life eventually became a series of juvenile arrests and incarcerations.
In 1994 at the age of twenty, I was arrested and charged with a long list of crimes including homicide. A year later I was tried, convicted and sentenced to twenty five years in state prison. Faced with spending the next twenty five years in here, I became very bitter. I chose to roll with the punches and use my incarceration to my advantage. Since I’ve been in here I’ve earned my GED, I am currently enrolled at Coastline Community College and am taking several courses at this time. My goal is to earn an AA degree in Liberal Arts/General Studies.
My hobbies include collecting comic strips, playing chess, doing crossword puzzles, writing poetry and reading. Working out regularly is also an activity I like doing.
I stay in close touch with my family. My mom communicates with me regularly through the mail, but I don’t get visits from her as often as I’d like. I have an aunt that lives nearby and she visits me a lot.
If you would like to develop a friendship with me, please write me a tell me a little about yourself. I would like to correspond with people from all walks of life, and perhaps from other parts of the world. I will exchange letters from anyone who takes the time to write me.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Peace.

I am always looking for ways to better myself as a person. I enjoy drawing, reading and learning new things. It would be nice to meet someone new, share thoughts and trade jokes. I am down to earth and not bashful. Life is too brief to not experience everything you can. To make a very long story short, I was convicted on a gang-related crime in Los Angeles when I was 16, and have been in Pelican Bay since 1994. I am now 32 years old. I'm trying to get a website started that will attract young people - kids from my culture - so they can read my story and not make the same mistakes I have in my life. I would love to hear from you. Wishing you the best

I would really like to meet someone from another environment or culture or anyone who would like to share some simple conversation. I'm a 45-year-old, single Mexican. I'm 5'7”, 169 lbs, with a medium build, brown hair, brown eyes and medium complexion. I was born in Waco, Texas, but grew up in San Jose, CA. I'm honest, open-minded, and love all types of people who read the Word of God. I enjoy outdoor sports - fishing, boating, swimming, hiking, baseball and walks. I'm a non-smoker and work out daily to stay in shape. I'm not a picky person, just a guy who would like some company to be able to share thoughts and feelings.

Frankie Lujan

I am a 31-year-old Chicano, currently serving a life sentence in solitary (known as SHU). I wasn't always a knucklehead. I grew up a pretty normal kid, with two wonderful sisters, in a loving two-parent house. I was born and raised in the City of Redondo Beach, a beach community in Los Angeles. I was a fairly average student in school. Growing up, I'd show glimmers of above-average intelligence here and there, but nothing spectacular. I'm probably putting too much salsa on the taco by even saying that. I played baseball since the age of five and love baseball to this day. I tended to be mischievous but no more than any other kid.

My parents were also raised in Redondo Beach. They grew up in the 60's and my father is a product of the achievements won in the Civil rights movement. He attended college, including UCLA, and received scholarships that were being given out at the time to young, bright chicanos. My father, as well as myself, are from Barrio Rodondo 13. Yes even beach communities have gangs. My dad was smart enough to avoid all the traps that would snare me years later. When my teenage years rolled around I started hanging out with the ‘Fellas'. My dad did everything in his power to prevent me from walking down this path. Ass whooping, restrictions, everything, but I was determined to live my life the way I wanted to. When I was 17 years old, I was arrested for a gang-related shooting and sent to the California Youth Authority. When I paroled in 1992, I was already stuck in my ignorant ways and continued to live the life of a gang banger. I was back in jail 2 months after I paroled. Since the time I was 17 years old, I think I've been on the streets a total of 16 months. On this current case, I've been in jail since December 1, 1997 – 7-1/2 years,.

I have a 13-year-old son who is my pride and joy. It's not easy keeping relations together from this place, but I try my best. His mother, who is a great, strong, brave, beautiful woman, has moved on with her life, which I totally understand.

I've omitted big chunks of my story, just to make it simpler to fit this into one ad. But feel free to ask me whatever you'd like. Also tell me about yourself, your interests, who you are. One of my passions is politics. I'm a die-hard 'Left Winger! I'm definitely ‘Anti George Bush”, so if you're a Bush supporter, I look forward to the debate. Sports are another of my interests. I also like to draw, and read, read, read.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you. I'd like to leave you with this quote, I don't know who it's from but I like the sounds of it. “May you have enough happiness to make you smile, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, and enough hope to make you happy.”

Hello, I need you, yes you! I'm looking for friends who will want to listen to my philosophy and psychology. I have been locked in a corner of my universe for a quarter of a century in California and all I have done is educate myself in many different subjects and develop a lust for life, full of Empathy, Respect and Integrity based on the core of my essence: truthfulness and honesty.

I enjoy studying, leisure reading and music. I have a great love for things that fly, from a small ladybug to the great commercial jet planes, and I also love children and would enjoy being a motivational speaker to all the little people some day. I am a man - neither more nor less – and I have great tales to spin and stories to share on all that I have in my heart and through my Spirit. I am very down to the Mother Earth and I will wait for you to bless me with your friendship.

Richard Marquez Jr.

As I begin this letter I hope you are surrounded by the love of our good Lord. It is also my hope that once you read these few words that I've put together, that you might take a moment to write.

My name is Richard Marquez and I am an identical twin. My twin brother's name is Nick Marquez #V-25975. He is my cellie here at Pelican Bay Prison, we're both 30 years old (Nov).

Growing up I made some very poor decisions. I came from a rough part of Southern California and like many young people, I was easily moved by the thought of fast money and was fooled into thinking my friends meant more to me than family. I know now I was wrong. I'm not saying friendships are wrong, on the contrary I value a true friendship.

My life has had its share of both good times and bad times. My little brother Sean was killed in 1992 and my parents passed away in June of 2003. Those moments have pulled at my heart, but I'm grateful for the time we had together. From their loss, I've also learned to enjoy today.

Dr. M. L. King Jr. said, the ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands on moments of comfort and convenience but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. So I let those words remind me to make the best of this situation. May God bless you.

Hello, my first name is Johnny, but everyone knows me as ‘Angel', which is my middle name. Johnny and Angel. I'm one and the same. My last name is Martinez, which is of Mexican descent. I was born in southern California where much of my life was spent.

My childhood was wonderful in a house with father, mother, two older sisters and a younger brother. Somewhere along the line, I went down the wrong road and I've been incarcerated since I was seventeen years old.

Yet I've evolved tremendously these past years, and am seeking a friend to share my joys, triumphs, and yes even my tears. I enjoy listening, exchanging experiences, ideas, and alternative points of view. I'd like to know your take on life and favorite things to do. So go on and go out on a limb, grab yourself a pen, tell me about yourself and how you've been. Life can be bitter, but also so very sweet. If you think along these lines, your definitely the type of person I'm hoping to meet. My intro is corny, I tried to make it rhyme like a poem. Hopefully I caught your eye as you surf the net at Home.

I'm 27 years old and, although living in solitary in Pelican Bay's SHU, I have not let that stop me from being an optimistic, outgoing, energetic man. I always manage to smile and bring laughter to my own day as well as to others'.

I have a passion for drawing and would like to paint as well – one day soon I hope. Writing poetry and reading are things I also very much enjoy. There's more to me than that, of course. Therefore I extend an invitation to any person willing to correspond with an open mind – so that we can learn from one another and become friends.

Greetings and good day! I’m currently serving a 35 year life sentence in Pelican Bay State Prison. I’m 27 years old. I’ve decided to keep an open mind to possibly meeting someone female who might be willing to share some time to exchange basic thoughts on a basic friendship level. I’m open to various races and backgrounds, I’ve never been one to be prejudice. I can pretty much socialize on various levels with different types of everyday people.
I’m not getting out any time soon so one must just expect keeping a friendship pretty much on paper. So if the feeling is mutual and understanding that we can establish an open line of communication on paper with each other exchanging thoughts, one is welcome to reach out in my direction and share some time with me.
Thank you for your time and have a great day.

There is no perfect way to lace these words with enough details to intrigue “someone like you”. I say “you” because if you are reading this you are already being curious and perhaps interested in a friend such as myself, who is open minded, caring and honest, but most of all respectful. I am articulate and meticulous about the way I carry myself. I’m always trying to grade my education in all aspects of life. So if you’re willing, correspond with this 31 year old sincere man. A magnificent other who can look through rough exteriors, drop me a few words, they will be most welcomed. I’m sure we can bring smiles to each other.

I want you to know that I am an open-minded person who welcomes anyone to write. I am seeking someone who I can share my thoughts and ideas with. I am looking to make friends to correspond with. Though a person who has a lot to say, I am also a good listener and would like to hear what you have to say. This is not just about me.

I'm a young man who's come to understand a lot from my past years of experience but I can never come to terms with the fact that such a powerful modern country has a judicial system that doesn't't treat poor people fairly. I’m Jose, a 37-year-old Mexican born in the state of Sinaloa . I stand at 5’10” with a 170lbs frame. I consider myself a sincere, respectful and open minded individual, easy to get along with and an inclination to progress in life and in my artistic skills, trying to stay positive in life, despite how tough it may be.
So here I am interested in corresponding with anyone who enjoys being expressive with their sentiments, beliefs and opinions. I also don’t have any physical preferences, to me all women are beautiful. But beyond external looks, I value and believe more in internal beauty because it is that beauty which defines the sentiments and positive honesty of a person along with their sense of humor. I would like someone who desires to build a trustful and respectful friendship.
So with that said, let me tell you that I appreciate your time to view and consider this introduction. If anyone is interested in corresponding with me, feel free to stop by.

Hello there,
Let me take a few moments of your quality time if I may. As I put my pen and thoughts to this paper and just speak with no sound but words that are so deep.
Believe in ouselves, care about other’s emotions, don’t be quick to judge or give up. Every lesson takes it’s time to forget the past, live for the future. Live one day at a time, make the best of everything. Time is always a virtue. Every one of us goes through ups and downs, there’s no way around suffering. I just learn how to make my moments of suffering turn out to be something positive. I’m seeking to meet new friends to share smiles, laughs, humor, a new beginning in my life and starting it with a new friend makes it easier. No one is perfect. We all make mistakes, even some that we will regret for the rest of our lives but the only thing we can do is learn and grow from them. Don’t let anyone tell you different because friendship is like a bridge that’s easy to cross over. It’s made for us to share a friendship that lasts a lifetime.

Juan A. Merced, Jr.

Nothing in life worth having comes without risk and it's with this understanding that, at the age of 39, I find myself wanting a compassionate woman in my life. I would like to be more open in this brief introduction, but time and experience have seized my faith in people so that that I would need to know you before I can be as open as I'd like to be.

My time is prison is spent reading anything and everything I can get my hands on. For me, reading is my way of escaping the walls of my confinement because the reality of the world I live in is anything but caring or understanding. I have not and will not give up my struggle to leave this place one day, but there is the possibility that I never will.

I would like to meet a woman who is able to be herself and who isn't afraid to take a chance on a man whose heart has been hardened by a harsh life and whose soul has been lost in this state of unending isolation. Permit me to enter your life and I will give you friendship filled with purpose and loyalty.

I will hang on your every word as if doing so would save my life and I will make every effort to put your wants and needs before my own. Most importantly, I will appreciate you, for there is nothing better under the sun than the spirit of a woman.

Anthony Miller

I am an African American, with brown sugar skin, 188 lbs., and dreadlocks. I am into football, antiques, and comic book collecting. Lately, I've been interested in politics, the language used in politics, and new laws. I would like to learn more about the internet. I have been learning Spanish on my own, and would like to have a woman write who is interested in teaching me. Actually, whoever writes doesn't matter because I am eager to learn! Also, I would like to correspond with a strong willed, revolutionary type female who doesn't mind standing up for what she believes in. Someone who would understand the straight forward nature of my poetry. Most importantly, I believe in God, and all
letters would be welcomed.

Don Miller

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Don Miller. I am currently locked up in Pelican Bay SHU program. I am doing an intermediate SHU term due to the label of gang association or prison gang membership. So based upon the prison administration I am confined to a cell for a total of 23 hours a day.
I have great hopes of opening up some sort of correspondence with someone that is willing to be a positive factor in my life. For as you are aware life in this type of confinement tends to disrupt any normal relationships. Due to the isolation factor and distance or location of this said prison. My ties with society have been separated to a great extent.. I do my best to remain positive and to also be as productive with my time as possible by educating myself and strengthening myself through a regiment of exercises. I am 34 years of age and I still have 10 years left on my sentence till I have parole. I have been incarcerated since 1999. So life has passed me by somewhat.
However I stay positive that there is someone out there that is able to understand that everyone makes mistakes. I have made changes and I intend to continue to do so.
If someone is willing to be a good friend in some way, I look forward to all mail!

Raymond Montezello

Hello there! I’m in prison doing a life sentence for second degree murder with a firearm. I grew up on the streets of Los Angeles but later moved to Lancaster, CA.
Among the things I enjoy doing are reading, listening to music, working out, drawing and writing poems. They types of books I enjoy reading are generally books on myth, religion, metaphysics and philosophy. I also enjoy reading the Bible. The types of music I listen to can vary, but I generally listen to rock music of all types. I enjoy drawing such things as flowers, faces, and anything beautiful. I like to write poems based on life experiences and the ironies in life.
Life in prison is tough, but most learn to adjust. That’s especially true of the SHU program, where I find myself doing time at this point. Basically the SHU program consists of lock-down cell time in which privileges such as having contact visits, making phone calls and going out to the Mainline yard are not allowed. It’s a disciplinary program. The committee put me in this program because of my tendency of getting into fights with others. It has taken time an experience to learn not to allow petty disagreements get in the way of my program. I used to get angry at people for constantly testing me and pushing my buttons, but I learned to overcome that anger. Now what I do is avoid problems as much as possible by being friendly and keeping to myself.
What I seek in a pen pal is a person who is open minded, compassionate and down to earth. Someone who believes in change and the impact of a positive mind.
My life has been a rollercoaster ride of strange experiences. I believe I can have a positive impact on someone by sharing my experiences and mu philosophy based on these experiences. Perhaps somebody could take my advice and put it to good use in his or her life.
I have a lot more to write about, so if you are interested in writing, do so and I will return a response in a spirit of friendliness and sincerity.
Take care, stay positive and may life bring you happiness, joy ad prosperity.

God Bless,

My name is Rudy, I’m 32 and currently housed at PBSP SHU. I’m originally from San Jose, CA. I’m serving a 27 year sentence of which I’m half way through.
I spend my time staying occupied with reading historical fiction, and on occasion drawing. I am currently working towards a diploma. Aside from this I spend a little time working on my Spanish and staying in touch with the outside world as much as possible. Working towards bettering myself is important to me since resources are limited to us, so I’m always curious about correspondence programs and self help material etc.
If anyone is interested in passing a few letters, I look forward to it, or if you have information on programs available that can be taken via mail, that would be great also.
For now I’ll close these few words…

I am from the small California town of Watsonville, an hour south of San José. I consider myself lucky since I was facing 27 to life under the 3 strikes law. Fortunately, the judge had a heart. I am really interested in meeting people from all walks of life who are willing to exchange thoughts and pleasantries, and who aren't afraid to express themselves of share their adventures. I hope this message finds you with a smile and well. First off, let me thank you for taking the time to read my ad. It really means a lot to me and shows how open-minded you are or, at the least, curious about guys such as myself confined here in solitary indefinitely.
So, who am I? Good question! I’m definitely a different man than I was yesterday. I’m 33 years old, very open minded and understanding. I have a huge heart and am a true man of my word. I enjoy challenging myself both mentally and physically, especially through artwork, which I love to do.
In the 14 years I’ve been down, 13 of them have been spent here in this dungeon of isolation on an indeterminate SHU term. Despite my confinement, I’ve grown and changed for the better in many ways, with attempting to educate myself and taking the steps to acquire my G.E.D. I’m also a self-taught artist, which is my self-therapy. It allows me to keep my mind busy on something positive and off my surroundings.
Confinement in isolation has truly changed me and given me an appreciation for the smaller things in life. I miss feeling the sun on my face and looking at the open sky. It also gave me a stronger appreciation for my family, especially my Mom, who is my rock and sanity.
I am hoping to find someone with whom to create a wonderful, meaningful and long-lasting friendship. We only live once so, take a chance and write. I promise to be loyal in good times and bad.
